3 Days Mt. Meru Trekk

Mount Meru gained its reputation primarily due to its proximity to Mount Kilimanjaro, located just 70 km away. As a result, Mt. Meru has become a favored preliminary trek for those planning to climb Kilimanjaro. The journey to its summit is marked by steep sections and a path that traverses numerous streams. During the ascent, akin to the experience on Kilimanjaro, one transitions from the equator to an environment that feels reminiscent of the Arctic. This transition encompasses diverse landscapes, including grasslands, tropical rainforests, alpine meadows, moorlands, and desert uplands, eventually leading to snow and ice.

To reach the summit, one follows a narrow, barren ridge that offers breathtaking vistas of the Ash Cone, situated thousands of feet below within the crater. Weather permitting, Kilimanjaro can be spotted to the west.

In the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, there lies a lesser-known gem, Mount Meru, the fifth tallest mountain in Africa. This ancient dormant volcano boasts a distinctive shape, formed approximately 250,000 years ago by a colossal volcanic eruption. In the city of Arusha, which is dominated by this mountain, skyscrapers take a backseat to the natural wonder that is Mount Meru.
